If the big 3 football schools leave the Big East, then the Big East as we know it is dead, as VT, WVU and Rutgers will probably want to find a new all sport home. It's not as far out of the realm of possibility, belive it or not. However, I'd think that given the nature of the schools that would be left, (Gtown, SJU, SHU, Providence), that Holy Cross would be as good a fit as BU. Doesn't give them the Boston Marketplace however.

Add Pitt and UConn to that list as they would also be looking for a home with 1A football. JMHO, but I think the Big East will add a football school or two to keep Miami, BC and 'Cuse on board and happy. I think Providence, St. John's and Seton Hall will be gone. Georgetown and Villanova play 1-AA scholarshop football which MIGHT get them a reprieve. The basketball fans don't understand it or believe it, but football has become the focal point of the Big East.
