Gymnastics Event

We in the AE don't have too many times where we compete with the big D-1 schools and even fewer when they come to our house! While I'm obviously prejudiced, I'm still impressed not only with the results but also with the attendance.

As long as I'm talking about non AE Sports for the AE schools, yesterday also saw UNH beat BU 3-0 in the Northeast Regional final to earn a spot in the D-1 Frozen Four. Maine lost 2-1 to Michigan on a power play goal with about 1:30 left in the third period. An incredible effort by the Black Bears on the Wolverines home ice in Ann Arbor. Just like the Women's NCAA hoop tournament, teams playing at home is a controversial issue in hockey too.

UNH lost its #1 scorer on his first shift last night with a separated shoulder. There was an empty net goal and the score was 1-0 until midway into the third period. A very intense game between the AE rivals. UNH awaits the winner of today's Cornell-BC East Regional Final in Providence for their Frozen Four opponent. The other semi-final game will be Minnesota vs. today's Colorado College-Michigan winner. The Frozen Four will be April 10th and 12th in Buffalo. It is already sold out but will be televised by ESPN, the Duece for the semi-finals and ESPN for the finals.
