Subject: UVM Headed to Pre-Season NIT
It was in the Burlington Free Press this morning that UVM would represent the America East in next year's Pre-Season NIT. While no pairings have been announced, here's the announced field...
-UConn
-Davidson
-Georgia Tech
-Georgia State
-Hofstra
-UL-Lafayette
-Marist
-UMass
-Minnesota
-UM-Kansas City
-Nevada
-St. Francis (they didn't say which, but I believe NY had the better season)
-Texas Tech
-Utah
-Yale
Just looking at the field, I'd say it's safe to assume UMass and UConn will have opening-round home games. I know, when appropriate, they try to keep things regionalized. Could we see UVM at UMass to start the year? That'd be a very interesting match-up. I'd just assume let Yale or someone else play UConn first. However, as we learned with BU playing at Stanford last year, it's possible they'll mix things up despite geography (NIT Committee: UVM DOES NOT need another trip to Utah!!!).
Also, is it just me, or is this a really weak field for the Pre-Season NIT? Last year featured Kansas, Florida, Xavier, Stanford, and North Carolina. UConn and Utah are the only major conference teams in this field that made the tourney this year. Still, it should make for some balanced match-ups.

Catboy, stop whinning Vermont got more pub with their travel woes then they would have taking a bus to Boston for a Syracuse slaughter or a Kansas bombing in Indy. Why can't the Cats be thankful for the gifts the good lord is giving them after being in the toilet for so many years. Blame the mess on the idiot who had the Cats make a connection in Denver. I agree with another poster that Tom Brennan should do some community service to repay the support he got this March. Give the 9-4 baseball Cats and underpaid Bill Currier some pub!

I don't recall Tom Brennan or any of the Catamounts ever complaining about the travel snafu in the NCAA's. In fact, they have been nationally praised for being so gracious.
