Subject: St. John's Transfers - 3 to seek new schools

I just read that three Saint John's players are leaving the program. Eric King, Tristan Smith and Tim Doyle have asked for and received permission to speak to other schools regarding transfers.

Wasn't Hartford involved with recruiting Tim Doyle at one point?

I dont know if he was involved w/ Hartford, but I can say it w/ assurances...he WILL NOT GO TO HARTFORD. Right now he is looking at Northwestern as the place he wants to goto the most. His biggest reason for leaving SJU was the fact that they play streetball and arent as structured as he would like. He wants and needs (to be effective) to be in a SET OFFENSE. I would bet he ends up in the Big Ten.

Hartford was recruiting Doyle but that never got very far.However they were very involved with Tristan Smith close to the wire. I don't think Hartford will be in the position to sign a transfer but I'll know more about that on Saturday(banquet night).
