It is an instinctive reaction, I think. For anyone who has been spanked regularly, at any rate. It is amusing to observe, even when a just the threat of a spanking is given!
My hand has involuntarily gone to my own bottom, when witnessing my wife spanking one of ours. No doubt, the trick cyclists could explain why!
