Chris Farlowe's version made its UK chart entry on 29 June 1966, and peaked at No1 for one week on 3 August 1966.

On 5 November, The Bee Gees performed ‘Spicks and Specks’ and ‘Out Of Time’ live on the Channel Seven, Sydney TV programme "It’s All Happening” (Episode #34) hosted by Billy Thorpe.

For the show an eight-piece band backed The Bee Gees although Maurice strums an unplugged 12-string electric guitar during their performance. Other guests included The Kinetics, Jeff St John & the Id, Ian Turpie and Toni & Royce.

As the show only ran for 39 episodes this was one of the final episodes.
