I don't know who may agree with this, but I had a lady once share a concept she had about the positioning of a naughty boy (or girl) prior to spanking. She thought that the head being down was symbolic of the boy or girl, "bowing to the authority" of the one who will be spanking them.

I don't believe this is a "right or wrong" ideology, but an interesting concept I had never thought of, until she shared it with me. In a way, when you're head is DOWN and your bare butt is UP and properly presented, there is no way the hapless lad or lass could feel THEY are in any kind of position of authority over ANYONE, as they are essentially submitting to the one they DO recognize as being the authority figure in charge...so maybe she was onto something.

This concept would apply to the boy or girl being positioned over your lap as you described - OR - bending over while standing, maybe either grabbing knees or over the back of a chair, perhaps for a paddling.
