Madison,

I first want to say good for you in what has been a difficult decision for you and your husband. But knowing what is best for you and your children. I feel Mark said it best in pointing out your comment on how pleased you have been with the results. Spankings do work, if done correctly.

As for the frequency, I wouldn't worry too much about that. Spanking is something you 'just' started using with your children, it is going to be higher than normal at first as they are still adjusting to the new discipline, as well. And still learning that Mom (and Dad?) will spank whenever needed. That is the important thing, is being consistent. If their misbehavior is causing you to spank often right now, then do so. But they need to know there will be consequences, each and every time, they don't listen to your warning or misbehave in general.

Another thing to keep in mind is both of them are young, too. And as Mary said, they are likely going to still need frequent spankings, anyways, even when they do begin to adjust and learn what the boundaries are and when Mommy will spank. Your daughter's spankings may lessen, but it's very possible your son still may need consistent trips over your lap being 6 yrs old (and being a boy!).

But keep up the good work, Madison, sounds like you and your husband are doing great. Please keep us updated!
