Kiarath stood straight, her wedge-shaped head held high. Wings were partly folded, ready to tackle the day's events. Her rider was right behind her, striding at a leisurely gait. She stopped on S'arn's left, glancing sideways at him. She felt a pang of sympathy, though held it back, knowing it would only make matters worse. A firelizard perched calmly on her shoulder, looking around with swirling eyes. Standing silently, they awaited instruction.
