Well I think just being aware of the situations you are in from your surrounding is a good thing to have. If a certain area looks not very promising for a good time then avoid it. Also, being armed with some form of deterrent like pepper spray, a gun, etc. will be able to scare off or subdue any potential abductors. Learning a Martial Arts form would also be very useful.
