Subject: My smile is my make-up I wear since my break up with you

Well, that and my literal make-up. Last night in Woodinville Chris said on the tour bus from Portland to Seattle he looked up some Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. He feels they could really step up their game with choreography. Here for your watching pleasure, if you like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCwkZrj2VT4

I was in Portland too and both events were perfect summer days. I'm sorry Chris was ill and I'm glad he is on the mend. As my friend said in Portland there's no other singer in his stratosphere, he's a vocalist and composer par excellence. Certainly any health threat to his art and ability to work must have been an untenable situation for him. He seems to have a good support system, though.

Anyway, the Blues Fest was really well put together, although for me a bit too loud, but I do love the blues. The vendors. location and variety of bands was really amazing. It was all for a great cause too. We hung around and early evening left to eat and then go back for Chris Isaak and Silvertone. I can fully recommend Q if you're ever in the area to eat. We stayed at Hotel Moderna and they are great too. It's within walking distance of many things to do and see in Portland. We were upgraded to a suite and the shower was probably too modern for me. I kept wondering why there was a circle in the glass to the shower. After I froze myself for a bit, I realized that's the uber stylish entry to turn on and set the shower, before you're standing there getting sprayed with cold water.

Anyway, they came on at 9, on the Brewery Stage, which is enormous. Where you can stand, or sit, is on a slope and you can see the band really well from most spots, but you do have to crane your neck to look up and watch. Other areas had screens, where you likely could truly sit to watch. Where we were everyone stood, which was fine. Except the ground was uneven and it was hard to get a foothold. I couldn't really dance much, but I didn't fall either and it was a good view. I'm assuming everyone can see social media/youtube for the suit selection. It is one of my favorites - the blue with a paisley design.

Chris pointed out that his suit, combined with a spotlight on him and nearby water made him a target for bugs. He said if we hear a hiccup that's him swallowing a bug. The bigs ones not so tasty and the smaller ones quite sweet. Later I was on the blues cruise with a similar experience and I can tell you swallowing bugs won't automatically make you a singer. I'm still terrible. I loved hearing Graduation Day, Western Stars, Worked it out Wrong, I'll Go Crazy and all songs really. On the schedule they were to go from 9:00 to 10:15, but he did go longer, which naturally I loved. Too bad it wasn't so long that we missed the cruise. Sorry to my friend who planned it, but I don't really like cruises. I've been on a few tours in cities, or cruise parties and I hate when I don't have any option to leave. I so dislike beinge trapped. She thought I should have told her, but she forgets she's a steamroller who would have arranged it anyway. People were pretty drunk and it was so loud, but there were excellent musicians. I went outside, where you could still hear, but cold. All around the blues fest, including the Portland Spirit, you're in danger of a contact high. Weed is omnipresent. I'd totally attend again, though and I love Portland.

I'll write more about Chateau Ste Michelle later, I've got some things to do. Here's another Smokey vid to enjoy in the meantime.

Yeah, I've made mistakes too.
