He is kind to her but she reads too much in to everything he does. She thinks he flirts more with her & does things with her, as a fan, that he doesn't do with other fans. She has convinced herself that he is smitten with her. Some of her friends actively encourage it.
Nothing wrong with a fantasy, but she believes that he is in love with her and that is not healthy. It also contributes to her nastiness to other people.
Mostly, it's sad.
