Subject: Once again Chris killed it at the ACL Hall of Fame

Here are two articles and I’ll add a little more later.

Chris really was perfection, and, yes, I’m not unbiased, but truly he hit every note, nuance and connection with the audience from the start. Of course, all were heavy hitters and Marcia Ball just knocks it out. I so wanted to yell, “I love you Miss Irma” as they left the stage, but I didn’t. Oh my Gary Clark Jr. is this long cool drink of style and substance. From the moment he walked on stage I was all “ooooh.” Of course, that goes double for Chris, but during his song two guys near me almost got into it, disturbing the song. Urgh. When I was a poor student living in London I also had to work, naturally. One of my jobs was at a wild club, but great acts came. Anyway in many situations the bouncers wanted me to break things up, so that they didn’t have to injure people. I had this no nonsense we’re just gonna settle down now thing. I honestly still don’t understand how it works. But, it also works on my career with adolescents. Anyway, I did a quick hand signal (no not a rude one) and no expression and they stopped. I thanked one of the guys during break for taking the high road. As is usual with these things, it would have been pointless and just a momentary irksome matter that could have been worse. Don’t get me wrong though, I won’t jump in between a fight. I just felt like “bitches don’t you know Chris is singing right now!?!”

Although, same as last year, we’re pretending it’s NYE, Chris wore a plain blue suit that looked wonderful. I’m still trying to figure out what “Austin Casual” means that they write on their ACL material. I think Chris hit it and I’ll likely wear what I want, like I always do. Anyway, I’ll try and add some later. This return from Austin time to the west coast (the best coast) is not fun. This is probably why I won’t get to any Christmas shows. I understand why his tours will now usually end on the east coast, since he lives in Nashville now, but sadly the timing and locations aren’t lining up for me. Plus, gosh, doesn’t it seem like whenever any bizarre headline hits, it ends up “the suspect is from Florida.” I’m sure some of the locales are lovely, but I haven’t been tempted to visit Florida for awhile. Sorry if you’re from there, no hate from me. Chris is, as usual, invited to join us for Christmas. Even though I never issue the invitation in person (lest I be branded a weirdo) and he doesn’t know where I’ll be. That’s kind of Santa’s thing anyway and he’d probably put Chris on the naughty list if he started knowing all that stuff. A note saying “I don’t try and sing, write songs and tour. Here’s your lump of coal.”
