Subject: IMO, this is one of his (if not the) finest albums. Other people have said the same to me.

Please Don't Call is a great song, but definitely not at the top for me. When I hear it, I think Ouch!
Running Down The Road is definitely in my top songs. I love the whole thing, but really appreciate that, lyrically, he admits culpability in the end of a relationship. Before anyone gets their panties in a twist, I do not mean that Chris Isaak is directly saying anything. But, his songs, generally, do not have that narrative. This time, the song led him that way & I admire it.
Some Days Are Harder Than The Rest is at the top as well. I loved it before I had heard what inspired it, but the story makes it even better. I love the lyrics, but it's the vocals that really get me. I'm not sure how to explain it clearly. There is a part where his voice really opens up. It's like we have never heard him sing full voice and then he is. I suppose it is just a more operatic sound, but it knocked my socks off the first time I heard it.
Insects -Love It. Love the tempo, love the lyrics. "What good'sit do, if it's only you".
Down In Flames is fun & fabulous.

I think the whole album is fabulous.

As for your nebulous, stream of consciousness comment, I would agree. However, if anyone was really trying to get a message through, posting public comments would not be the way to do it. If you don't have someone's personal contact information, you are not personally connected. If you do, use it.
Obviously this does not apply to normal fan comments on social media.
