Wayne? How well I remember Pine Hill... and the DRIVE to get there (yes, from Newburgh)! Honestly, it was easier getting to the "Town House" in Woodstock! (And even easier yet, the "Maverick" in Glenford for that matter.) I have to admit that I got there only about 3 times. Yes, it was fun, but some-how it just wasn't "The Lodge". Nothing ever was before and I don't suppose anything ever will be.

Y'know? It takes quite a bit to bring tears to an old man's eye, but your kind words certainly did it today, as I read them. No doubt about it, George sure was one of those incredible human beings that come to Life less often than... well, I just don't know what. G's was more than just a business to him, and we were more than just "customers". I'd suppose, to many of us, he was "family", just as we were to him. (Funny little "truth": I was only just barely 17 when I started going to G's. One night, in a conversation, I let it slip and was told "Just don't do anything to get any of us arrested." I wouldn't have dreamed of it! And I'll repeat what I've already said, if it hadn't been for George, I wouldn't be typing this today.)

Yes, indeed, the memories live on... The Lodge, the friends, the Lovers, the music, the pool, bungalows, stone house. I suppose many (if not most) of the folks are "gone", but I like to think that if there's "some-place" we all "go to after this", there's a "Lodge" out there and maybe, one of these days, we'll all get together again. Free juke-box, open bar, plenty of rooms, and no "last call".

Thank YOU, Wayne, for posting. I have to admit, you've touched a heart and put a new light on old memories. I hope you get to listen to some of the music, that it brings you some good memories and the moments that go with them. Always feel free to keep in touch. (And hopefully, somebody else will stumble on here and do the same.)
