May I also add that your US tradition including harsh tools like a hairbrush(!) even when spanking kids is so cruel that I can´t find printable words for it! Is the child supposed to be afraid for it´s life or what? It will! And when you afterwards tries to tell that "It´s only for your good and I love you so much" you are in fact twisting the language and making the child not being aware of what real "love" and "good" really means at it´s core.

How A Modern Spanking Should Be Given
Written by Dorothy Spencer in 1936, the Spencer Plan is a highly structured, cooperative, domestic discipline agreement between husband and wife designed to promote and strengthen marital harmony and stability.
The first mention of the Spencer Plan being used was in a 1929 notation from Mrs. Spencer’s diary, the use of which spread by word of mouth until sometime around 1935 when Dorothy Spencer began work on this manuscript.
Once her book was released, the initial printing run of 50,000 copies sold out in under six weeks.
A question many people ask, when first taking up modern discipline, is: “How long should a spanking last? About how many slaps should be given?”

There can be no definite answer to such a question. I do not recommend any certain stated number of slaps. The idea is always to continue the spanking until you believe it has been effective-without at any time resorting to unnecessary harshness or uncalled for severity.
It has been found that comparatively mild slapping, applied to the buttocks, can be made to sting effectively, without doing one particle of damage or leaving any evidence of unpleasant, harsh treatment. It’s the wife’s duty–after dressing and drying her tears (if the spanking has provoked any) to go to her husband then, thank him for administering the discipline–and kiss him.
If this seems hard to do, you have lost the true spirit of the Plan and you must MAKE YOURSELF DO IT in order to win it back!
