Subject: Manhattan in the Elite 8 is RIDICULOUS
In reply to: Voice 's message, "Re: Manhattan won big again" on 08:36:30 02/09/03 Sun

Manhattan has a chance at the elite 8??? Its nice to be optimistic but lets not be ignorant. I have seen Manhattan play many times now either in person or on television. Flores is clearly the best player in the MAAC and an NBA prospect. Manhattan is definitely the best team in the conference and they are a top 30 team in the country. I would be surprised to see them win a first round game but not shocked. Anything beyond that is not very conceiveable based on the fact that Manhattan hasnt beaten one team ranked in the top 25 this whole season. Who do their most notable wins consist of...SJU and Seton Hall. Both of those schools are horrible this year and would be grateful to get NIT invites. Wins against teams like Butler and Southern Illinois would claim a lot more fame than those weak big least squads. In closing Manhattan is the clear favorite to make the NCAA tourney from the MAAC but to mention this team in the same sentence as Sweet 16 or Elite 8 is absolutely ridiculous. This team would get beat somewhat easily by an Oklahoma, a Pittsburgh, or even an Xavier, reason being lack of size, and lack of quality opponents.
