Subject: We need a PG

What I think league games has exposed is the Saints dire need for a Point guard. When you get to league games when teams know your every tendency is where you really start to see your true weaknesses. We are half way through the season and the turnover problem is not getting better. Tommy Mitchell and Jordan are fine young players, neither is the answer at PG, one play really illustrated that point last night( I’m in no way getting on Tommy) Tommy and Justin Miller were running the floor on a 2 on 1 fast break, Tommy with the ball passed it to Justin above the top of the key while Justin was in a full run, well not unexpectedly Justin turned it over, now an experienced PG would never have given a big man the ball 30 feet from the basket. Other examples. How many times was Goode guarding Prosper, not once did we post Goode up, in fact I don’t think we even attempted to. Anyone have any doubts if we had a true PG where Prosper would have got the ball? How about the play to end the half, we have plenty of time to set up a play and we have to settle for a 3 pointer by Jackson who barely touched the rim? How about when Deng came back with 4 fouls, does this team even have a clue on how to attack a player with 4 fouls? Again with a good PG what do you think we would have done?

I like Tommy and Jordan, both are fine athletic combo guards neither is a PG, as for Jackson, I’m not sure what the deal is on him, maybe it’s the bad arm, maybe it’s the adjustment to college basketball but the kid isn’t helping us. For those of you calling for more min from Jackson, I think you might want to catch a game in person first, not only does he appear lost out there at times, teams in the MAAC totally disrespect his shot and respect his speed by playing 10 feet off him.

As for this year Siena will continue to be up and down unless/until we cut the turnovers down. And as for the future I think it’s readily apparent that this team needs a PG
