Subject: I shoulda left then

We were up by as many as 17 points in the first half

I shoulda left then

Then it went bad

The team came out with a thirst for blood, so to speak.

Once they were ahead for a little while though, they became content.

Fairfield starting their run with a minute or two left in the first half.

Siena did not care. They played as though they had already won. They need not do much more, just go through the motions, this game is in the bag.

Fairfield starting getting closer and closer, but Siena did not care. We're blowing this team out, aren't we? Why bother chasing loose balls any more? Why bother trying to make good passes and protecting the ball? Why even try to rebound offensively?

Then Fairfield pressed. And we were done.

It did not happen suddenly where Fairfield was down by 17 and then flipped a switch to win by 9. It happened over the span of the those two minutes in the first half and all of the second half.

Siena seemed like they didn't know what hit them though. As soon as they realized they were down desperation set in, even though they weren't down by much and still had 3 or 4 minutes to play. Whenever they got the ball, they'd come down the court and feel the need to take a three, who cares if it wasn't the best shot. Prosper missed a deep one, Austin couldn't hit, Tommy Mitchell, Antoine Jordan couldn't hit.

But that would have been the easy way back in. This team worked hard enough at the beginning of the game and didn't feel like it was necessary to play as hard as they did earlier. This was a blowout right?

Yes, but by Fairfield. They won by 26 points. Well, that's at least after about 16 minutes into the first half what happened.

I shoulda left then.
