Subject: Jack, and anyone else questioning Lanier a bit (friendly discussion)

I am not sure how "tinkering" with the line-up can be blamed for recent losses. Below you relate to our 5/4 record since the changes and I suppose had the line-up remained unchanged we would have beaten Xavier here and both Manhattan and Canisius on the road? The loss to Delaware was simply a super stinker by all concerned and the loss at Toledo was a stinker with blame pretty much on one senior guard who did not score as I recall.

I really beleive we have two issues:

Lanier is young and the learning curve remains a reality. It seems to me that when the defense gets sluggish we should time out and really press to get those feet moving. And if he fears getting beat on the full court then go 1/2 or 3/4. Also, rewinding to last season, there were many games where we just were not ready and at times, this problem still raises it's ugly head.

Of course, how could Lanier know as much as we do:-)????

Siena is young and at times we have FOUR kids on the court with NO D-1 experience and THREE a good portion of the time. The advantage goes to those teams with upper classman leading and quite honestly, we do not enjoy that luxury. Remember what Al Mcguire said about freshman. "The best thing that happens is, they become sophomores."

And one last thing regarding the "tinkering". I think generally, the starting line-up should always go to those having worked the hardest that week and frankly, it is my understanding we do have some inconsistent players at practice. I think the minutes played and the combinations do not have to change much.

Lastly, we are going to have to struggle to maintain the "top four" and it's Fairfield's and Manhattan's to lose. I don't really like to pull for Iona either but must admit, I'd love to see Siena hand out a second loss to TOT on Monday and watch Gonzo exhaust himself as a result of his hyper active imagination:-)

And to those maligning a players name or spitting the Ferguson crap, why the cheap shots? Not necesary!
