I am an Australian primary school teacher who hopes to travel to Northern Ireland in 2005 to teach. I am currently working on a Masters Degree and have been teaching at a joint Catholic/State Campus for 3 years.

I worked previously in the UK with a teaching agency working in places such as Cambridge, Oxford and Bath. I found it quite difficult at times - not knowing pretty much where I would be needed from one week to the next. I was, in the end, offered 5 long term contracts - but France and the rest of Europe beckoned!

I was wondering if anyone could suggest the best way of attempting to get work in N. Ireland. I am not bi-lingual in any way (English is it!) so this may be a problem. Is the idea of teaching in N. Ireland worth my looking into? AND Is it best to go through an agency or to try and establish contact with schools directly? Is the latter really an option from the other side of the world? If anyone would like to give these questions a shot, I would be very happy.

Many thanks, Julie
