I am a strong believer in free speech and the right to privacy. For that reason I was a very unhappy person when all we had was Wantoks Forum and its glitche style censorship.

But now we have a variety of alternative forums, including places where those who want can muck around if they want. With that specialisation and variety in forums, things have changed. Now some censorship would probably be acceptable to everyone ESPECIALLY since most of the alternative forums have been so good about pointing to the existence of the other ones. In other words everyone can have their say, no matter what they want to say or how they want to say it, and it is easy to find out where they can have their say.

This forum, the Creative Writers forum and the Kumul forum have well stated areas of specialization. I think those administrators are well within their rights to take off postings that don't conform. As long as it's clear what the editing policy is, there can't be much complaint. It is the vagueness of the Wantoks Forum policy especially in regards to corruption related postings that cause the friction. In contrast the editorial policy of this forum seems clear.

Finally. Hey, how many of us actually did support this forum previously? It got postings at the rate of maybe 1 every 10 days sometimes? And some of those were Bill White's redundancies? We have to look at ourselves a little. We can say this forum was supported but there was mostly indication that only a few put a lot of effort. I am one of the guilty ones who read postings but often did not comment. If all of us who say we like the idea of an education and development forum would actually participate and discuss things, then that alone would drown out some of the off topic postings.

Most people who write want an audience. They may not want to write anything if it looks like only their eyes see their words. Let's all give just an acknowledgement we read some of the words of others a little more than we do now, and encourage postings of the kind that we enjoy reading and learning from.

Tingting bilong mi tasol. Yupela wokim laik bilong yupela yet.
