I really wish that Central Washington University or Western Washington University would offer a Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Biology. Central Washington University does have a Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Biology at it's Ellensburg Campus but this degree is for Biology teachers only. But I and I strongly believe that there are others like me would like to obtain a Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Biology when we don't have a biology teaching degree or plan to obtain one in the future. Presently in the Puget Sound Area only the University of Washington offers Graduate Degrees in Biology but all of these degrees require a thesis. Central Washington University presently has campuses at three locations in the Puget Sound area and they are at Lynwood, SeaTac and Pierce County. Western Washington University has two or more branch campuses in the Puget Sound area. So lets sum up we have two public Washington State Universities in the Puget Sound Area with 5 or more branch campuses but none of them offer a Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Biology. So if you want to get a Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Biology you will have to leave the Puget Sound Area and possibly go out of state to get one. If you go out of state you will end up paying a king's ransom in tuition. The idea of a Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Biology is not a radical idea because their are several public universities in the United States which offer them. I just can't understand why Central Washington University or Western Washington University won't offer such a degree program in the Puget Sound area. I particulary like the Non-Thesis Master's Degree offered by San Jose State University in California. San Jose State University offers a MA in Biological Science and this is a Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Biology. All you have to do is take some required courses of a few credits, take some electives which will bring your credit total to about 30 or more semester credits and pass your final written and oral exams. There is no language requirement, paper or project to complete for this degree. What I stated above is all you have to do for obtaining your Non-Thesis Masters Degree in Biology at San Jose State University. Why can't Central Washington University or Western Washington University offer a program like they have at San Jose State University is beyond me but I strongly feel that if Puget Sound Area residents with biology degrees knew about the San Jose State University program they would demand that these above mentioned universities offer such a degree at one of their branch campuses in the Puget Sound Area. Anybody here or in the Puget Sound Area want to start a petition drive to have a Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Biology like they have at San Jose State University?
