Lirth informs Sinouth cautiously, {The Weyrleaders say that you are also old enough, even to go between.} Sinouth's eyes wheel swifter, in shades of delighted sea-green. {Chavala! Did you hear that?} Chava, too, is in a state of great excitement. ~I did! Let's go!~ Chava finds one of the last harnesses and fumbles with them for a few minutes before finally deciding—correctly—that the larger strap goes about the green's middle, behind her forelegs, and the other attaches to her neck. After crawling about Sinouth for several irritating moments, Chava checks the straps and deems them snug and correct. As her hatchling is small, she has no difficulty settling herself on Sinouth's neck and strapping herself onto the leather harness. At last, unable to contain her excitement any longer, she gives Sinouth the command to launch herself. The green's launching is fluid, graceful, and with seemingly no effort, she is soon soaring into the sky with great sweeps of her filmy chartreuse wings. Chava had seized the harness in slight fear and shut her eyes when the green started up, but just as Sinouth begins to land the girl opens her eyes wide despite the wind biting her face. Sinouth coasts to a fairly smooth landing, and Chava flashes her brothers a grin.
Or rather, where her brothers would be, had they stayed on the ground. Both weyrlings are now gliding upwards, readying themselves for between. Lirth requests coordinates from Adath, and, upon receiving them, passes them on to Prosth. Both dragons give each other knowing, proud looks before they enter the searing nothingness called between.
Meanwhile, on the ground, their sister is glaring up at them. ~How DARE they?~ she yells at Sinouth. She has to have someone to vent her worry on. {They are young, but not very foolish. Lirth and Prosth will not endanger their riders.} As usual, her green's calm, sensible voice cuts through her anger. She sighs as she leans back against Sinouth's hide. ~I just hope they don't get hurt. . .~ They stand that way for several minutes, before Sinouth cautiously ventures out on a limb. {Would you like to try it?} Chava had nearly been dozing off. ~Mmmwhat?~ Sinouth repeats herself, mindvoice filled with a bit more nervous energy. {Would you like to go between?} Chava cocks a dark eyebrow, but no answer is even necessary. The girl climbs onto her green's back once more and has her ask Adath for directions. Having received instructions from the bronze, Sinouth launches herself again, even more agile this time, and hovers in the fire-heights a moment before blinking into between with the Bowl fixed firmly in her mind.

The fatale sighs heavily, stroking Sith's eye ridges quietly before mounting swiftly at T'run's instruction. She settles upon the beast, and the magnificent blue gathers up power, wind 'collecting' beneath wings, and as he becomes airborne, he 'steals' the picture of the bowl from his rider, and at the weyrling master's signal, he winks between...

The two boys enter, dragons trailing behind almost like faithful pets. -- Sh'muel€Bronze Lirth, D'ven~Brown Prosth, and Chavala§Green Sinouth, 20:33:16 07/02/01 Mon
Except that these are no mere canines. They are Lirth and Prosth, bronze and brown dragons of Sh'muel and D'ven! The regal little bronze trumpets a greeting to the other dragons, and the more introspective brown salutes the others with a warbling mumble. D'ven reaches down and rubs Prosth's head affectionately.
~Today's our day, little guy.~
Though shy, the brown still has pride. {I am not THAT little, D'ven.}
D'ven's hearty chuckle is silenced mid-warble by his sister Chavala's sharp voice. The fierce, short girl glares at him with her hazel eyes afire. "D'VEN! Sh'muel. . . you would happen to be thinking of starting training, now would you?" she says in a falsely sweet tone.
D'ven executes a short bow to the even more diminutive lady. "Why certainly, ma'am. With your permission."
Sh'muel speaks up, rather nervously, "Just because we're not on the official list of weyrlings doesn't mean we don't exist. . ."
"True, but do you know how old your dragons are? I wouldn't go traipsing about the sky if Lirth and Prosth aren't yet old enough!"
D'ven dismisses her with a short flick of his hand. "Such a worrywort. They hatched before Alieth, and Ritaki's training."
Chava's expression softens slightly, and she sighs. "You're right. . . Oh all right. Just remember what Weyrleader T'run's been saying. You caught all that, didn't you?" She suddenly looks severe again.
The boys glance at each other, then chorus in unison, "Yes!" Though Chava correctly interprets their falsely sincere looks, she lets them go. Her green Sinouth, seated on her haunches by her rider's side, comments quietly, {They are old enough. Let them have their fun.} Chava snorts lightly. Fun indeed. . .
Meanwhile, Sh'muel and D'ven grab a pair of riding harnesses. Though they are not particularly close as siblings, it feels good to have a companion, at least for this part. The younger boy scrutinizes his riding straps, examining every crack for possible breaks. Relieved not to find any, he then spends many minutes trying to discern how the riding straps fit over his bronze's neck and chest. By watching the older weyrlings' dragons land, he eventually discovers the placement of the leather thongs and fits them in place on Lirth. His bronze dragon offers him a forelimb, and Sh'muel clambers onto Lirth's neck. He settles himself between two neckridges, fastening the straps tightly about his slender waist. He nervously watches the other weyrlings take off and land several times before he is ready to let Lirth try the same. The bronze tilts back, pushing off with strong hindlegs, at the same time beating the winds with a powerful down stroke. For a second, Sh'muel had closed his eyes, and when he reopens them, they widen further in delight. "We're flying!" he calls aloud, whooping with glee, an ecstatic grin fixed on his face. Lirth coasts to a stop, backwinging as he comes in to land. Even after several repetitions of the drill, the grin is still inexorably stuck on Sh'muel's features.
D'ven quickly cottons on to the riding straps and how they work, having always been good at mechanics. He attaches the leather straps, buckles things tighter in place, and declares them ready to go. He scrambles up Prosth's hide, using the riding gear as hand and footholds. After what seems like an eternity, D'ven reaches the top of his brown's neck. He settles himself in, strapping himself securely. Who wanted to fall off their dragon, after all? D'ven is surprised whe Prosth, impatient to begin, launches himself into the sky without orders. He didn't mind, of course. Despite his shyer attitude, Prosth was very much like himself. But surely he wouldn't endanger. . . But no. Prosth's takeoff is even smoother than Lirth's, and he makes a neat little landing, tucking his wings into his chest and looking smug. Chavala and Sinouth wave to both riders and their dragons, having watched the entire performance from the sidelines.

Glowers... -- T'run and Adath, 13:40:34 06/29/01 Fri
His dark eyes flash angrily as he sees the four weyrlings flying without supervision. He turns to D'ven, his voice crackling with anger. "You should have known better. You have flown merely once. Suppose you had done something wrong and one of the weyrlings or dragons had been injured? Lucky for you none were." He glares at them all before returning to the others there. "You can all fly between by now. Or you should." He mounts Adath and motions for them to do the same. "Never fool around when entering between, it could cost you dearly. When I give the signal tell your dragon to go between to the bowl. Try to picture it as clearly as possible. And remember not to pay any attention to shadows or anything that specifies time." He waits for them to have sufficient time to memorize the aspects of them bowl and Adath shoots upwards. When the weyrlings are in the air he tells Adath to instruct them to go between, then does so himself.

Hunger... -- Kilia with Sith, 11:06:02 06/17/01 Sun
After practicing endlessly both human and dragonet return to the ground. After dismounting, Kilia falls to her knees with a groan. Sith's optics whirl a hue of orange worry, and is also tinged with a fiery crimson hue that 'exclaims' his hunger. 'Kilia? Kilia????' He knows that she is alive, and possibly just tired...he is startled that he feels a ravenous hunger within the girl...she had just eaten a day ago! 'Ugh Sith...I'm tired and hungry...' Sith rumbles his agreement 'Me too...we cannot do anything until I am a weyrling...do you think we can go eat and rest?' Sith appears hopeful, and Kilia shakes her head. 'I...I...I dunno...I hope so...I feel like all of my energy has been drained...I'm so weak...' Sith is very worried about his lifemate, and stays protectively by the girl while bespeaking Adath for his rider's sake. 'Adath? Kilia is hungry and tired, and so am I. She feels very weak...can I take her to go to The Table to eat and then rest, and may I go eat and do the same? I cannot do anything else until I am a weyrling unless T'run plans to have us chew firestone now...' Kilia sighs, her eyes closed, her frail form exhausted and in pain...learning to ride was just so hard...

T'run carefully surveys the weyrlings assembled. He asseses the equipment. Making sure that it was on correctly. He turns human section and begins to tell them some of the safty rules. "Don't kick your dragon when you go up, and grab the longer strap to mount. For the larger colors use the foreleg to help you mount. And remember to check your equipment before every flight. You wont have to worry about it after a while, it becomes routine." He mounts his bronze, Adath extending a foreleg for his rider to mount. T'run face them, his dark eyes checking the equipment again, making sure he missed nothing. "Lean forward when you take off, otherwise you'll experiance some unpleasent effects. Tell your dragon to launch by leaning back, leaping and downsweeping together. It might take a few tries to cordinate it, but you'll all get it eventually." The Weyrleader pulls his goggles down and demostrates, soaring for a bit before flying down to the trainees. "Also, make sure your goggles are down, if something like a stray bit of Thread got in your way...The goggles wont stop it for long, but it'll hurt much more without them." He speaks with a wry twist to his mouth and gestures upward. "Your turn"

LISTEN UP AND PAY ATTENTION! The bronzerider nods. "Alright, those of you who are here good for you. The others will have to train later." He gestures to everyone, including Arisma, D'ven, and K'skin. "Everyone that's here can train. We're going to work on flying first. Actually more acurately, flying equipement." He points to the rows of equipment and nods. "Each of you, take a pair of flying straps and some weyrhide clothing. Make sure all of it fits well. Especially the flying straps. They should be snug, but not too tight and if there are any tears or stretching don't use it." When they all have their equipment he smiles. "Alright. Here's how you put it on." He shows them how to attach it to their dragons hide and waits for them to follow his example.

The duo enter, Kilia seems to be chatting intensly with Sith about a very important subject, as her eyes are unfocused, yet she continues to walk. 'K'ndelek and M'takaua seem nice.' Sith responds calmly. Kilia sighs, rolling her eyes to the sky with a grin. 'Well...at least they were friendly.' Shrugging her shoulders she scans the crowd quietly, optics searching for no one in particular, she is particularly happy that she didn't have to converse with her parents at all...what a relief! Upon spotting K'ndelek she waves and approaches him, deciding that she'll stand with the male. Smiles slightly at him "Hey...you should have waited for me." She informs him with a nod, grinning slightly...there is something about being around both M'takua and K'ndelek that is calming...perhaps it's the knowledge that nobody is perfect, and being around unperfect people is just...good for her. Whatever the reason, it feels like all the weight has left her shoulders whenever she is around either males.
