It is also important to reinforce the idea that the child you're spanking is actually a good girl who knows better and can and absolutely should be better. In this way it's the behavior that is being criticized not the actual person.

While a discipline spanking can include a certain amount of embarrassment, it should not be a humiliating or belittling experience. It should be about bringing the recipient to an emotional place where they can experience really honest and deep remorse for their actions, then feel like she’s paid the price and earned forgiveness, beginning with herself.
