Once again, sorry for being so slow. I've been going through a bit of a bout of depression, and there had also been drama with my work, so I just haven't been very with it. I promise to finish the story though. I won't just leaving you hanging, lol.
I blink in surprise. I truly wasn't expecting a question about that far into the future. In a way, it really warms my heart, because it means that part of you is already accepting my presence in your life for the foreseeable future.
"I hate to sound wishy-washy, but it really does depend on several things. How badly did teenage you get in trouble? Is it a rule that you had broken before, and you knew better? I think what you are really asking is if there is an age when spankings are no longer an option. Basically, when would you be "too old" for a spanking?"
You nod, confirming that I had zeroed in on your real concern.
"Well, first of all, I would hope that as you get older, you would try to be more responsible, and therefore, you wouldn't be earning many spankings. Of course nobody's perfect, and I don't expect you to be. I'd prefer, and I'm sure you would too, to transition to things like loss of privileges, if you get in trouble as a teenager. As long as you maintain pretty good behavior at the end of middle school, then I would plan on spankings being off the table once you get to high school. But if you mess up big time, then your butt could possibly still be in danger."
You don't look thrilled with that answer, and I can't really blame you. At your age, high school probably feels like an eternity away.
"Hey, don't look so glum. You're going to work on building better habits, and I'm here to help you do that. The quicker you do that, the less likely you are to wind up with a sore backside. I know you can do it. "
You seem a bit encouraged by that.
"OK, I don't know about you, but I'm hungry! How about BLTs?"
You really perk up at that, and I start pulling ingredients out of the fridge.
"So, we'll have lunch, then you can help me clean up my room, and then how about a movie? And, as long as we have an uneventful rest of the day, then I was thinking we could check out the new mini-golf place tomorrow. What do you think?"
