They have so many options for punishment and they pick one that is now considered socially unacceptable. This means they enjoy administering the spanking...unless they truly feel nothing else could correct their children's behavior. As for my mother I would say she is sadistic. I don't mean that as a slur. It's Just the truth. She gets pleasure from dishing out pain. Not just spankings. She likes to say hurtful things and find any weakness to criticize. Talking bout it is but doing it isn't. Even my super liberal sister who taught elementary for thirty-one years will tell you that with some kids you just have to get physical. Just because a parent doesn't use corporal punishment doesn't mean they aren't abusive. People who get spanked feel that it is normal and it is in a lot of communities. It is discussed freely in those communities.People won't talk about as openly because there are more legal consequences than there use to be. If Rosanne was thirty minutes of child abuse my life has been 19 years of child abuse because my mom talks to me that way, very condescending. But it doesn't really seem like abuse to me just normal.
