Subject: MicroMac's L2 Cache & the 575

I called MicroMac today and spoke with a gentleman who I suspect is the owner/sole proprietor. English was his second languague. I asked him several times if his CALC128 could be used in a 575 logic card. The answers he gave me were:

1) "no, it won't work"

2)"Even if it did work, it would only work at 33Mhz, not on a logic card that has been pushed up in speed"

3)"it is not in stock and we don't have any more"

Questions about why it would not work, or it's size, or what would be needed to make it work were put aside and not answered.

He offered a $149.99 575 logic card upgrade. For $149.99 he would install a kit like Chris is selling for $10.00 to speed it up to 40Mhz (he called it the 80Mhz upgrade) and he would drop in a 33Mhz full 68040.

He also tried to sell me the *BIG SIMMS* which is a 128MB SIMMS that will plug into the one SIMMS slot on the 575. He claims that this BIG SIMMS (that's the name of it; really!) will work in the 575 logic card when it is used in the CC. Price: $199.99 Can you say BITE ME??!!

He says he also has some CC back panels that fit the CC when a 575 logic card is used. The cost: $29.00

Maybe someone else can get further with him than I did. He says he has no L2 Cache cards that will work in the 575. I also asked him about the CAQ6128 and the CAQ7128. His 800 phone number has been disconnected, but his normal one still works. It is: 949-362-1000. His web page has not been updated in about a year or so.

Do we know anyone who has bought a CALC128 that we could email and ask questions too?
