Apple cards are the least problematic. I believe it is the Asanté cards that have given the most problems. The SONIC chipset is what Apple used, so any cards based on that should be pretty much fine.

I personally prefer LC Ethernet to Comm Slot, mostly because I've had an easier time finding LC cards than CS cards. I don't think there's really any technical reason to use one over the other. LC seem to be somewhat better-supported as far as third-party cards go, however, so that might be a consideration if you're looking at LC cards. Also, a correspondent of mine has noted that some older Asanté LC PDS cards, while they fit an LC III PDS, do not work in it but only work in the old-style 16-bit LC PDS (like the CC's PDS slot).
