In reply to: Leaman Crews 's message, "Anybody using OS 8.1 at 512x384?" on 23:31:47 12/15/01 Sat

I've used only 8.1 on my Mystic, using the ResEdit hack, and have had no problems since installing it in October. I do notice, however, that the System Profiler reads the Mystic as a 580 series machine. The 512x384 resolution is cramped, but it's fine for writing and e-mail.

I installed the altered system by first using ResEdit on an 8.1 system installed on a Powerbook 540, then used SCSI disk mode to boot the Mystic, and copied the System sub-folder into the Mystic's drive. (The hack does not affect the PB540, of course, because the PB does not use that part of the system resource when it boots.)
