There's a big difference - AVS digitizes input video signal and passes it through local bus to CPU/memory whatever.

This thing is just converting digital signal from one format to another (like to make it VGA).

Actually it has direct equivalent - 6500/5500 logic boards have video out slot which allows mirroring to either TV or external VGA monitor. I've got this one for external VGA. thing.
