Your account does seem to suggest that flipping a PBB connector from 'right' to 'wrong' orientation may have caused the problem.

Looking at Takky's documentation of the PBB connector. . . . ARRGHH!! -- I see his hasn't described what each pin does, so we can't draw any conclusions about what might have been connected to what.

So, there's a bit of research to be done there.

However, I can confirm that a CC with a 575 board works fine without a PBB. My 'CD in CC' project leaves no space for a PBB, although in the end I used a bit of it to reinstate the power-on LED. Can't necessarily say the same for a PCC, but I'd have thought it likely.
