Yep, it's the oscillator that controls the Ethernet timing. Ethernet runs at 10Mbps, and is usually controlled by a 10MHz clock (sends data every clock cycle). The part you broke off is a 20MHz oscillator whose clock frequency is divided in half to generate the 10MHz frequency used for Ethernet timing.

Your card won't work without it, but in the event you have damaged the crystal beyond repair, I probably have a spare one around here somewhere. E-mail me privately if you can't fix the card and we can work something out.
