Subject: 575 LB question

I have some 25MHz 68040 cpus lying about, but no 33MHz real 68040s.

If I replace the 33MHz 68LC040 on my LC575 logic board with a 25MHz 68040, will the chip run at 33MHz, will the board run at 25MHz, or will it just not work?

I'm hoping that the external clock will bring the chip up to 33MHz, but I'm not willing to fry anything to test my theory.

Any advice?
