I agree with you in many points. As I wrote recently, I believe that a spanking parent shouldn't enjoy giving a spanking. But I also believe that spanking is necessary in specific cases; it's not only a parental right to spank your kid when a misbehaviour calls for it, it's even a parental duty.
From that perspective, it is indeed satisfying. Having done something unpleasant but necessary gives you a good feeling.
