That wasn’t a spanking it was criminal assault.

I got smacked as a kid but the smacker was always calm and in control while smacking me. And I never got hit in excess of 20 times. It was about 10 or 12 at the most, to my mum and dad that was a “good hard smacked backside (or bottom)” with the slipper. And those were reserved for something dangerous, being downright abusive or extreme temper tantrums which were quite rare.
