I cannot say that I agree with the prolonged nudity or use of a diaper. But that I suppose is not my place commoner upon.

However, I will state that a measure, even a strong measure, of embarrassment is an appropriate part of a punishment. While I only once have deliberately spanked one of my kids in front of the others (I can share more on this in another topic), I have never not given a spanking that was earned due to the presence of family, extended family included.

The reasoning is simple and straightforward - misbehavior results in consequences, those consequences are, by design, intended to be unpleasant, a spanking with siblings and/or cousins present serves as a deterrent to them, adults who are present (grandparents and aunts/uncles) have seen a be administered spankings themselves so there is nothing new there.

I see no need to send a child to their room, join them up, spank, and then either bring them back down for corner time (which has to be supervised) or to sit in a bedroom for 10, 15 20 minutes to supervise. Spankings in house are almost always given in the common areas of our home - the family room, den, kitchen, nook or the home office which is directly adjacent to the family room. I see no reason why I should inconvenience myself when it was the child who misbehaved.

Furthermore, the physical effects of soreness abate and a spanked bottom returns to its natural state in time. However, the fact that body parts they would prefer to keep hidden were seen, the indignity of being reduced to tears and humbling that comes from corner time remain in the mind for far longer.
