Good question sir. Not really. My parents stressed that my brother and I were responsible for our actions, and that spankings would happen when we misbehaved. If I had to choose an age it was probably rather young that the behave and no sore bottom, or misbehave and go over dads knee sunk in. However, as with most kids, we got into things, misbaheved etc, and had a good idea it was going to paddle on bare bottom. Spankings did lessen significantly as we got older, but we both still got a small few in late teens for certain things.

A bit of both. And he also learned by hearing me get spanked for stuff. But at the same time, he was responsible for his actions and my dads paddle made contact with his bare bottom plenty of times (although probably fewer times than me).
