 You are beating yourself up so much, Jerry. I could say a few things about your behaviour but there is no need. Instead, I will give you a virtual manly hug and beg you not to be so hard on yourself.

You recognise you acted foolishly. If you were really were as immature as you are accusing yourself of being, you would now be complaining about how unfair you think your punishment was and blaming your parents. Admitting you did the wrong thing and recognising your deserved the punishment takes maturity. It is said someone's brain is not fully matured until about age 25, so such slips from someone your age is not that surprising. So, please. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Your dad said you have not had a spanking for a while. Well, doesn't that suggest you much more responsible these day and not nearly as in need of them?

I hope you feel better about yourself, Jerry. You really are a good guy.
