Hmm, I can appreciate your point somewhat. Though, I do want to clarify that I didn't fail the test. I got a C+, which isn't typical for me at all, but also not the end of the world, because this one test shouldn't impact my overall grade. If I had failed the test, then I definitely would have fessed up. I generally get very good grades, almost always straight As, and I manage that without parental supervision. Of course, my mom will ask about my schoolwork sometimes, because she cares how I'm doing, but she doesn't feel the need to track all my assignments/ tests, because she knows I'm capable of managing it myself.

This situation was a little blip. I didn't tell her about it because I was honestly embarrassed that I had slipped up like that, and I genuinely didn't think she would have punished me for it.

Stuff hit the fan because I reacted disrespectfully to the misunderstanding between us. I still don't think the accidental failure to study enough would have earned me a spanking, if I had avoided losing my temper.

I hope that clarifies things.
