We had a little paddle in the house that was only used for serious offenses like what you describe — anything that bordered on juvenile delinquency or reckless endangerment. A little paddle might not sound like much, but this one set a fire that burned for a long time.

It is good that you have not had to get the real thing with your mom's special instrument of correction, but got enough of a taste that you know you never want to earn a spanking with it. That is a smart strategy by your mom to keep you out of danger before something tragic happens, or having to discipline you severely. I believe you when you say you really do not want to get in that kind of trouble.

Have you ever come close to doing something really bad, but then thought about the little silicone paddle? It is amazing to think that a small inert object like that can be such an important influence on your life.
