This is one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situations.

If you don't spank your daughter, she's going to find someone who will.

If you do spank your daughter and people find out about it, they may call you a pervert. And your daughter could later decide to tell someone to gain power over you.

So either you have to find a way to solve those problems or just enjoy what you can now and take your beatings as you go (to use a turn of phrase).
