Besides being painful, spanking is also humiliating. I consider myself lucky that my parents strongly believed that a spanking should be given in private. Mine almost always happened behind a closed bedroom door which was a little something.
At least nobody but my parents saw my butt being turned red, or my kicking and trying hard to break free from the death grip holding me in place over the knee. However anyone else in the house surely heard the crisp "SPANK! SPANK! SPANK!" sound of the paddle on my butt, and me howling at the top of my lungs. Usually it was just my siblings, but there were a few times I got a spanking with family or friends of my parents in the house. In those cases it was especially difficult for me to leave my room afterwards and interact with all the knowing faces.
