I believe my father may have enjoyed it in the sense that it gave him a feeling of authoritarian power and control which narcissists love. I don’t know if he also enjoyed it in the sexual sense. I firmly believe that my father’s use of corporal punishment affected my childhood sexual development. I have read that spanking causes blood to rush to the buttocks through the illiac artery and that is why the skin turns red. The illiac artery also branches off to the genitals so that blood that rushed to the buttocks during a spanking can also rush to the genitals and cause an arousal that the child might not even consciously be aware of since they are in so much physical and emotional pain. I have read that the brain can record the reaction between the painful stimulus and the resulting arousal and lead the child to sexually develop in a manner where they link spanking with arousal or pain and punishment with arousal. I do consider this a form of sexual abuse and assault even if I also recognize that this may not be what a parent intended.

This is also what led me to realize that I had been significantly impacted by spanking and could never spank a child if I had one. For one thing, it would be wrong of me to push the same risk that was forced onto me onto a child who cannot consent to the risk. I also believe that apart from age play and fantasy, no person who has that sexual attraction to spanking should ever be spanking children even if it is their own children. I believe that people who are sexually attracted to spanking should be some of the most outspoken advocates against the use of corporal punishment on children.
