My grandma's sister was a nun at a convent near Monterrey Mexico. Most of my grandma's outlook on childrearing that she passed to my mother stemmed from attending Catholic schools in Mexico in the 1920s.

My parents always wished they could have found a way for Catholic school to be feasible for our family. I think they'd have been more trusting of nuns with discipline than they were public school.
