One of the most ridiculous comments I read on sites like these is where someone comments that so-and-so's children are always so well behaved and the parent replies "that's because they are spanked regularly". Surely that is a contradiction in terms. If they are so perfect, why is it necessary to spank so often? It does suggest there is an element of enjoyment involved, sexual or otherwise.

It leads me to another question. Why do most children uphold house rules most of the time, and adults obey the law of the land more often than not? Is it because they are scared of the consequences it they do step out of line, or because they automatically know it is wrong, an act against society values if you like? If there were no rules, society may collapse, but I wonder by how much. Most people know right from wrong the majority of the time.
