There were certain things that almost guaranteed a spanking, lying, taking what wasn't mine without permission, direct disobedience, getting in trouble at school. I say almost, because sometimes there were exceptions. Also, I would get spanked for other things as well.

While spankings were the go to punishment, there were times I might get grounded or sometimes just a good talking to. It depended on the situation and how I acted at the time.

Yes, On many occasions, I did try to talk my way out of it. I was a big baby when it came to spankings, even in my teens. So it was pretty common for me to cry and try to beg my way out of getting spanked. Unfortunately, I was not always successful.
