Started in 4th grade when grades really mattered and I was assigned home work. 86% was considered an A-. I would get priviledges for each subject over that percentage. 76%-85% was considered minimum requirement in our home. 75% and lower would get me a spanking. My mother would use her large wooden paddle and my father would use his leather belt on my bare bottom. The severity depended on percentage points. I had a couple bad terms and took my licks for them but most of the time i was finishing in the mid to high 80's.
