I am sorry that happened!

I was extremely sensitive to public punishments for some reason. I can remember being about 12, and my mom was going to spank me in the living room. I got super paranoid that somebody would show up at the door and see what was happening-my fear of being seen actually overrode the fear I had of the spanking itself.

When I was in elementary school they used to make kids stand in the corner as a punishment. In the fourth grade I got sent to the corner and I had what might be described as a panic attack. Hyperventilating, legs didn’t work…the school nurse had to come get me. On a positive note, I didn’t have to stand in the corner, but it was also really embarrassing to have that sort of reaction in front of the entire class.
