It might have just been something done in the heat of the moment. Evidently she hadn’t spanked a child in years and anyway, given she took your niece into the bedroom and not the living room shows the punishment was intended to be at least mostly private.

We had similar mothers when it comes to this subject. Over the knee, bare bottom, by hand, most often in the living room thankfully with nobody around since I was an only child. When we were with cousins it was a different story. My last spanking from dad came when I was 14 but the last time my mom spanked me I was 13. May I ask what led to the spanking at 14 years old?
